If you’ve passed by Bey’s on a Tuesday night in the past few months, you know that something awesome is going on there. Break Edge, a time of extreme dance and drink, goes down every Tuesday night at Bey’s and consistently features some of the best dance tunes in town, whether there be DJs, bands, or both. And now they’ve picked up a sponsor in the form of Svedka Vodka. I myself have had a great relationship with Svedka through the years. It’s the not-Smirnoff of affordable vodkas to me — a bottle you would feel good bringing to a BYOB party because 1.) You don’t look cheap, but 2.) If a bunch of jerks drink all your vodka, then you aren’t out too much cash.
Bey’s has created a whole bunch of new cocktails and shots featuring the Svedka family of flavors, and not only are they only $2 on Tuesdays, but they have the best names of any specialty drink menu I’ve seen in years. The nomenclative party here is Bakari Lebby, Break Edge curator and half of the hip-hop duo Sweet Vans, who named the drinks after friends, songs from local bands, and hashtags he uses on Twitter. Who wouldn’t want a shot of The Recoil or #bitchgohome, or to sip on a Smashleigh LandRover or a #f#!kstorm? I know I do.
